Mrs. Dolores McDonnell Dough Holeman of Plymouth died Thursday, January 25, 2007 at Blue Ridge Health Care Center in Raleigh.
Mrs. Holeman was born August 9, 1930 to Maurice and Eleanor Guthrie McDonnell and was preceded in death by her son, William David Dough. Mrs. Holeman retired after 25 years as executive director with Plymouth Housing Authority where she gave many people the opportunity of a better home and life. During that time she played a very active role in the Carolina Council for the Department of Housing and Urban Development, where she served as President. She was an active member of Plymouth United Methodist Church and the L. Belle Bennett Circle. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and The Daughters of the American Revolution.
Mrs. Holeman is survived by her husband, Richard Blacknall Holeman, Jr. of Plymouth, N.C.; her daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Francis Combs; grandchildren, Chris and wife Gena Combs, Ryan Combs and great granddaughter, Anne Marie Combs of Raleigh, N.C.; sister, Donna McDonnell Dough of Leonardtown, MD.; step-daughter, Carlisle H. Scott of San Jose, Costa Rica and step-son, Richard Blacknall Holeman III of Snow Hill, N.C.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 28, 2007 at 2 p.m. in the Plymouth United Methodist Church with Rev. Terry Williams officiating. Family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Plymouth United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 734, Plymouth, N.C. 27962. Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell.
