Hazel W. Oliver

Mrs. Hazel Watson Oliver, age 91, a resident of 18608 N.C. Highway 32 N., Plymouth, N.C., died Friday, Dec. 2, 2011, at her home.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, at the Jarvis-Harris Cemetery of Plymouth officiated by Dennis R. Davis. Pallbearers will be John Oliver, Butch Oliver, Jesse Respass, Willie Jefferson, Matt Respass, Edward Oliver and Justin Mixon.
Mrs. Oliver was born in Jackson County, N.C., on Aug. 31, 1920, daughter of the late Estes and Martha Queen Watson. She married Fernie Harding Oliver Sr., a U.S. veteran of World War II, who preceded her in death on Feb. 9, 1957. She served her family as a mother, grandmother and homemaker.
Mrs. Oliver is survived by two sons: Fernie H. Oliver Jr. and his wife Christine of Pinetown and Ronald Gene Oliver and his wife Betty of Bath; two daughters: Kathy O. Jefferson and her husband Larry of Washington and Lynda Sue Respass and her husband Ronnie of Plymouth; a daughter-in-law: Patsy Oliver of Pinetown; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and her loving caregiver Myrtleen “Essie” Lewis. Mrs. Oliver was preceded in death by two sons: Larry L. Oliver and Gary Oliver; two brothers: Lawrence Watson and Jay Watson and three sisters: Rhoda Gregory, Thelma Harris and Betty Willard.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.
