Mrs. Nancy Alene Matthews Hughes, age 85, a resident of 224 South 6th Street, Aurora, NC died Wednesday August 19, 2009 at her home.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday August 22, 2009 at Edward Christian Church officiated by Pastor David Linton. Burial will take place Wednesday August 26, 2009 in Holly Hill Memorial Park of Baltimore, MD.
Mrs. Hughes was born in Harnett County on February 13, 1924 daughter of the late James Beal Matthews and the late Lillie Fish Matthews. She married Richard Creston Hughes on January 23, 1959 who survives. Mrs. Hughes was a homemaker and a member of Edward Christian Church.
Surviving along with Mrs. Hughes’ husband Richard of the home are a daughter: Mary Ann Bailey of Greenville; three grandchildren: Michael Litz of Middleburg, FL, Steven Reimer of Baltimore, MD and JoAnne Reimer of Baltimore, MD and four great grandchildren. Mrs. Hughes was the last living child of her parents.
The family will receive friends Saturday August 22, 2009 12 Noon until the funeral hour at Edward Christian Church and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday August 25, 2009 at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home of Baltimore, MD.
