Rumley, Stroud win event

Davis Rumley and Whit Stroud of the Washington High School Chess Club won first place in a chess tournament at D.H. Conley High School in Pitt County recently.

Rumley and Stroud combined for six wins and two losses, beating teams from D.H. Conley and J.H. Rose high schools. The Washington High School club is advised by English teacher Ben Deck and math teacher Toby McMahon.
