On Nov. 23, Charlotte Ludolph, Hilda Spenceer and others took students from the Mattamuskeet school campus to Swan Quarter to assist with a mobile food pantry.
The students joined pastor Gerald Craddock of Soule United Methodist Church and his work teams with the packing and distribution of food boxes for the needy. The Food Bank of the Albemarle comes from Elizabeth City once a month (on the fourth Wednesday) and makes stops in Swan Quarter and Engelhard.
“Ending hunger one mile at a time” is the motto of the Kraft Foods mobile food pantry.
Students helped disabled or elderly people carry their food boxes to their vehicles.
Participating students were Marshall Betts, Justus Smith, Kelsey Ludolph, Kaitlynne Ludolph, Sandy Beltran, Nicole Pegram, Mandy Schmitt, Ross Gibbs, Shane Cuthrell, Shaniyah Weston and Jennifer Guzman.
