Mrs. Katherine Slade Godley, age 62, a resident of 1396 Bayview Road, Bath, NC died Saturday August 29, 2009 at her home.
A graveside funeral service was held 2 p.m. Monday August 31, 2009 at the Bayview Community Cemetery officiated by Pastor Greg Hornbuckle.
Mrs. Katherine was born in Beaufort County on June 17, 1947 daughter of the late Dewey Frost Slade and the late Myrtle Elizabeth Mason Slade. She was a 1965 graduate of Bath High School and continued her education at Hardbarger’s Business College in Raleigh. Mrs. Katherine was a homemaker and a member of Bayview Community Chapel.
Mrs. Katherine is survived by a son: Rod Godley, Jr. of Bath; three daughters: Lisa Elizabeth Lewis and her husband Paul of Clayton, Cindy G. Woolard and her husband Roger of Fox Fire Village, NC and Tiffany G. Smith and her husband Glenn of Chesapeake, VA; a brother: William “Bill” Slade and his wife Betty of Bath and six grandchildren: Ryan Godley, Cameron Lewis, Carter Lewis, Elizabeth Woolard, J.C. Woolard and Mason Smith.
The family received friends following the service at Bayview Community Chapel and at other times at the home of Mrs. Katherine’s brother and sister-in-law: Bill and Betty Slade located at 2121 Bayview Road, Bath, NC.
In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made to the Bayview Community Chapel Church, P.O. Box 32, Bath, NC 27808.
