Sound Off highlights anonymous, brief takes on the news offered via telephone by Daily News readers.
The sacrifices of those who served in Korea will never be forgotten as long as we have newspapers like the Washington Daily News that take time periodically to remind us of our history. I am sending a copy of your Korean War editorial to a friend who fought in the war. I know he has not forgotten.
I would like to thank you for the editorial regarding the Korean War. The American people don’t really know about this conflict. I was there, on the front lines, for 16 months. The Chinese and North Koreans killed 52,000 American boys in three years. Find a Korean veteran in your neighborhood and ask him to talk to your club.
I read in the Washington Daily News that one City Council goal was to eliminate the police department dispatcher. Does this mean that the plan to close the police department offices to the public after 5 p.m. and eventually transfer law enforcement in the city to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office as a cost savings is still alive?
We brought the U.S. Navy to a standstill over the outlying land field a couple of years ago. What chance do you suppose we have with the Chicago-based company? By the way, has anyone mentioned how much taxpayer money will go into this wind-farm project?
I appreciated your recent editorial on the Korean War. It was well written and worth reading. Thank you, very much.
