On Oct. 1, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a breaking and entering of a sailboat.
The sailboat was beached near the Bath Creek inlet after Hurricane Irene. The victim found several electronic items and boating equipment missing from the boat.
As a result of information obtained during an investigation, a suspect was identified. Investigator Robert Gaskins obtained a warrant charging Patrick Hoagland, 29, of Boyd Loop Road, Pinetown, with breaking and entering of a motor vehicle and felony larceny.
Hoagland was arrested Monday and confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $5,000 secured bond.
