Hugh Lynwood “Buddy” Gibbs Jr., 61, of 464 Lazy Lane, Engelhard, died Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011, at home.

Born Feb. 13, 1934, he was the son of the late Hugh L. Gibbs Sr. and Mildred Mason Gibbs, he was married to Lois Ange Gibbs who preceded him in death. He was a member of the Engelhard Christian Church and of the Atlantic Lodge A.F.& A.M. #294. Buddy loved to fish, hunt, ride his Harley Davidson and spend time with his family.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the family plot in the Brooks family cemetery. Scott Sukeforth and George Merrick will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday at Bryan Funeral Service, Swan Quarter.

Surviving are two sons, Lynwood Gibbs III of Garner and Kevin B. Gibbs of Greenville; a daughter, Shannon G. Mooney of Ponzer; two stepsons, Gino Gasparrini and Paul Gasparrini; a stepdaughter, Lori G. Fijal, all of Massachusetts; seven grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter Angel S. Gibbs.

The family suggests that the donations be made to the Brooks Cemetery Fund, c/o Angela Matthews, U.S. Highway 264, Engelhard, NC 27824.
