Whenever Calvin Daniels would throw down a huge dunk, the Washington Pam Pack fans would go crazy.
Washington High School’s all-time scoring leader is hoping to do that at a higher level in the near future. Daniels, who finished his career at Washington with 1,940 points, is starting to field offers from various colleges.
The Bearcats are currently 10-11 overall and 1-6 in Big East play.
A two-time Daily News’ Male Basketball Player of the Year and a First Team selection to the Associated Press All-State team following his senior season, Daniels has been working at his game at New Horizons Prep in Virginia.
Daniels came off the bench for New Horizons (16-6) last year and averaged 12 points a game for the Warriors.
Along with refining his basketball skills, Daniels has been working hard in the classroom.
Daniels didn’t discount playing at East Carolina. In fact, Daniels, also a standout wide receiver with the Pam Pack, said he wouldn’t mind playing two sports for the Pirates.
Daniels, who scored a season-high 34 points for New Horizons in a recent game, will play near his hometown of Washington on Feb. 9. He and his New Horizons teammates will play Charis Prep at the Reid Street Community Center in Wilson. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
Washington’s Joe Davis plays for Charis. Davis is averaging 8.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game for Charis.
Whenever Daniels finalizes his decision about a college, that will give them something good to talk about as well.
