Meredith honored by commission

The Beaufort County Board of Commissioners, at its meeting earlier this month, unanimously approved a resolution expressing appreciation for the services rendered by Harry Meredith, who retired Dec. 1 from the post of chief deputy of the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.
The resolution, read by Commissioner Ed Booth, reads in part, “Whereas, the Chairman and Commissioners of Beaufort County (are) desirous, on behalf of themselves, the other County officials and employees and the citizens of Beaufort County, of expressing to Harry W. Meredith Jr. their deep appreciation and gratitude for the service rendered by him to the County over the years.
“Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Chairman and Commissioners of Beaufort County, North Carolina that. . .(w)e express to Harry W. Meredith, Jr. our deep appreciation and gratitude for the dedicated service rendered during his tenure with Beaufort County…We offer Meredith our very best wishes for success, happiness, prosperity and good health in his future endeavors…This Resolution shall be incorporated into the official Minutes of the Beaufort County Board of Commissioners, and shall be in full force and effect from and after this 12th day of December 2011.”
The commissioners also voted unanimously to award Meredith his service weapon.
