Lester Allen Stilley Sr.

Mr. Lester Allen Stilley Sr., age 67, a resident of 5453 Old Blount’s Creek Road, Chocowinity, died Friday, Dec. 30, 2011, at his home.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Warren Memorial Cemetery, officiated by the Rev. Ray Webb.
Mr. Stilley was born in Beaufort County on May 2, 1944, to the late Floyd Eugene Stilley and Allie Fleming Stilley. He attended elementary and high school in Aurora. On Jan. 31, 1964, Mr. Stilley married the former Frankie Hamrick, who survives. Mr. Stilley worked in types of construction, mostly as a heavy equipment operator working with cranes. He worked for Brown & Root and Flour-Daniels Construction in Surry and Mineral, Va., for more than 20 years. Mr. Stilley worked for Trader Construction in Aurora.
In addition to his wife of the home, Mr. Stilley is survived by a son, Lester Allen Stilley Jr. and fiancée Angela Hunt of Smithfield, Va.; a daughter, Melissa S. Linton of Chocowinity; two brothers, Curtis Eugene Stilley and wife Carolyn of Hampton, Va., and Floyd Wade Stilley and wife Pauline of Chocowinity; two sisters, Lynda Carol Moore and Kathryn Rose Dickinson both of Washington; a daughter-in-law, Lynette Stilley of Chocowinity; three grandchildren, Sandra Dawn Crawford, Allison Alligood and Kendall Paul Linton; five great-grandchildren; two aunts who he dearly loved, Mary Ellen Bosher and Mary Elizabeth Fleming; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Stilley is preceded in death by a brother, Milan Stilley, and a brother-in-law, Edward “Buddy” Moore.
The family would like to offer special thanks to Dr. Jennie Crews, who was always faithful and “on the ball.” The family also wishes to thank the staff of hospice and the cancer center for their loving care. The family thanks everyone who kept them in their thoughts and prayers. May God Bless you all.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. tonight at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home, 5453 Old Blount’s Creek Road, Chocowinity.
