Mrs. Bernice Boyd Bright

Mrs. Bernice Nicholson Boyd Bright, age 90, a resident of 2813 Possum Track Road, Chocowinity, died Tuesday evening November 24, 2009 at Britthaven of Washington.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Friday November 27, 2009 at Oakdale Cemetery officiated by Rev. A.G. Smith. Snowdy Carrow, Herman Tyson, Frankie Bright, Steve Buck, Harold Bright, Jr., Jason Bright and Steve Smith will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Bright was born in Beaufort County on July 24, 1919, daughter of the late Joseph Richard Boyd and Sadie Elizabeth Ecklin Boyd. On January 20, 1934, she married Norman Gentry Bill Bright who preceded her in death on July 19, 1972. She retired as the manager of the canteen at Beaufort County Hospital. Mrs. Bright was a member of Memorial Free Will Baptist Church.
She is survived by three sons: Kenneth Bright and his wife Theresa; Harold Bright and his wife, Carolyn all of Chocowinity and Archie Bright and his wife, Judy of Carolina Beach; her grandchildren: Michelle Pennington of Willow Springs, Harold Norman Bright, Jr., Jason Bright, Jamie Friend and Steve Smith; and her great grandchildren: Autumn Joy Leggett, Joshua Hunter Leggett, Mackenzie Pennington and Hayden Pennington. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by two granddaughters: Rhonda Denise Bright Fox on April 18, 2004 and Carolyn Joy Bright Leggett on April 4, 2006; her brothers: Jonnie Boyd, Richard Joseph Boyd, Jr. and Alton Ray Boyd and her sisters: Margie Boyd Bright, Rosa Lee Boyd Walls and Olive Boyd Buck.
The family will receive friends 12:30-1:30 p.m. prior to the service on Friday at Paul Funeral Home in Washington and other times at the home of her son, Kenneth Bright located at 2813 Possum Track Road, Chocowinity.
