CHOCOWINITY — Mrs. Shirley Elks Haddock, 71, died Thursday, December 03, 2009.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Grand Old Gospel in Chocowinity by the Rev. Ray Lewis.
Mrs. Haddock was a native of Pitt County, and had spent most of her life in Tappahannock, Virginia. For the past four years she had resided in Chocowinity. An avid gardener, she enjoyed sharing her vegetables with friends and family. Mrs. Haddock was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Rufus Elks and a sister, Marie Dixon.
She is survived by her: husband, Charlie Haddock; daughter, Angela White and husband, Louis, of Williamston; grandson, Louis White, III, of Morrisville; and mother, Edith Elks, of Grimesland.
The family will receive friends at the home Saturday evening from 5 to 7 p.m.
