Mr. Glenwood Arnold, age 73, a resident of Respess Road, Pinetown, NC died Friday December 4, 2009 at the UHS Inpatient Hospice Center of Greenville, NC.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday December 8, 2009 at Everett’s Cross Roads Church of Christ officiated by Dennis Davis.
Mr. Arnold was born in Harnett County on May 16, 1936, son of the late Joe Harvel Arnold and the late Lovie Fish Arnold. He was a graduate of LaFayette High School in Fuquay-Varina, NC and attended DTI and Old Dominion University. He married the former Catherine Tuten on August 19, 1956 who survives. Mr. Arnold was an Insurance Claims Adjuster. Prior to his retirement Glen was a resident of Pasquotank County, where he was a member of the Pasquotank-Camden Volunteer Rescue Squad for several years. He was recognized by the county for his efforts in establishing a twenty four hour emergency rescue service and becoming an honorary member of the Pasquotank County Rescue Squad in December 1994. Since his retirement he has been a volunteer for the Seniors Health Insurance Information Programs for which he received a ten year pin. Mr. Arnold was a member of Everett’s Cross Roads Church of Christ.
Surviving along with his wife Catherine of the home are three daughters: Darlene Heinig and her husband Michael of Rock Hill, SC, Angela Arnold Tooley of Washington and Janet Woodard and her husband Lyle of Nags Head; two grandchildren: Kasey and Ryan Tooley of Washington; a sister: Ruth Willard and her husband Vance of Axton, VA; three sisters-in-law: Belinda Arnold and Carrie Arnold of Elizabeth City and Velma Rae Arnold of Jacksonville, NC; a brother-in-law: Wayne Tuten and his wife Annette of Pinetown and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Arnold was preceded in death by three brothers: Alton Arnold, Jerry Arnold and Oscar Arnold.
The family will receive friends Tuesday following the service at the church.
