Elbert Winford Cowan, 89, a resident of 120 Askewville Road, Windsor, died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, at Chowan Hospital. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Askewville Baptist Church with the Rev. David Crumpler officiating.

Burial with military rites will follow in Edgewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. tonight at Walker Funeral Home and at other times from the home. Arrangements are by Walker Funeral Home, Windsor.
