Mrs. Mabel Pearl Alligood, age 88, a resident of 2917 Slatestone Road, Washington, NC died Monday December 14, 2009 at her home.
A graveside funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday December 17, 2009 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens officiated by Marty Alligood. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Tony Alligood, David Mizelle, Bill Davis, Howard Stoddard, Scott Alligood and Jerry Alligood. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Jay Woolard and John Charles Woolard.
Mrs. Alligood was born in Pitt County on July 6, 1921 daughter of the late Henry and Pearl Lee Hamilton. She attended Bath Schools and married Delmar Bonner Alligood on January 6, 1937 who preceded her in death on June 10, 1989. Mrs. Alligood was a homemaker, a member of Rosemary Church of Christ and a member of the former Beaufort County Home Extension Club for eighteen years.
Mrs. Alligood is survived by two sons: Nolan Alligood and his wife Betty and Bonner Alligood and his wife Jo both of Washington; nine grandchildren: Tammy Pittman Mizelle and her husband David, Tony Alligood and his wife Christie, Paige Alligood Davis and her husband Bill, Diane Alligood Stoddard and her husband Howard, April Alligood McGill and her husband Tim, Scott Alligood and his wife Emma, Michael Alligood and his wife Kathy, Julie Woolard and her husband Troy and Cindy Douglas and her husband Timmy; twenty three great grandchildren: Adam, Ciara, Dylan, Amber, Christian, Sabrina, Keira, Aaron, Kelly, Timothy, Danny, Dustin, Austin, Ryan, Brittany, Raielle, Lovette, Jamie, Jenny, Macey, Taylor, Austin and Chelsea; ten great great grandchildren and a sister in law: Dottie Hamilton of Elkton, MD. Mrs. Alligood was preceded in death by two sons: Delmar Thomas Alligood and Steve Hollis Alligood; and a brother: Roscoe Hamilton.
The family will receive friends at Mrs. Alligood’s home located at 2917 Slatestone Road, Washington, NC.
