Mr. Jerry Coleman Clark Whitfield, 53, resident of 7329 Highway 92 East, Bath, died Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009.
A funeral service will be conducted Sunday, December 20, 2009, 2 p.m., St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church with Bishop Bernard Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Luke Cemetery, Edward.
Mr. Whitfield was born in Beaufort County, Aug. 11, 1956, to the late Anna Clark Cratch and G.W. Whitfield (founder of Whitfield &Whitley Funeral Home). He was a graduate of the former Aurora High School class of 1974. He was employed by Flanders Filters CSC in Bath. He was married to Hallie Dean Gibbs Whitfield, who survives.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Linwood Cratch.
Survivors are: one daughter, Crissy Carter (Perry) of Plymouth; two sisters, Anna C. Bailey (Clarence) of Philadelphia, Pa., Thelma Nelson of Washington; one brother, Jesse Green of Grimesland; one grandchild, Tyana Mason of Plymouth; one foster sister, Minister Liz Godard of Washington; three brothers-in-law, Kenneth Satchell (Patricia) of Baltimore, Md., Melvin Gibbs (Dale) of Jamesville, Donald Gibbs (Sheila) of Washington.
The family will receive friends at the home; walk-in visitation Sat. 1-6 p.m. at the chapel.
