Mr. Durwood Hunter White, 71, of 3655 N.C. Hwy. 41 West, Trenton died December 28, 2009 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
A funeral will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Gospel Light Church, 153 Houston Road, Comfort, N.C. with the Rev. Ruffin Hill officiating. Military rites will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, December 31 at the Philyaw Thomas Cemetery.
Durwood Hunter White was a U.S. Navy Seal (Retired). He was a member of CLASS-26, Little Creek, VA., UDT-21 (1961-1963), and SEAL Team 2 (1963-1969). He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara White; brother, R.W. White; sisters, Louise Ricks and Vivian Brittingham.
Survivors include one son, Sean Hunter White and wife Shannon of Washington; two step-daughters, Charlene Taylor and husband R.V. of Seven Springs, Nikki Barker and husband Eric of California; one sister, Elizabeth Quinn and husband Thurston of Seven Springs; six grandchildren, Jordan Taylor, Kyle White, Braxton Barker, Kevin White, Bradley Barker, Hannah Barker.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 30, following the funeral service.
