Rakima McCall

On December 28, 2009, Rakima LaQueta McCall known as “Ladybug” was called home by the Almight Father. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Spring Garden Baptist Church and will be conducted by Pastor Wilbert Smith. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
Rakima was born in Beaufort County on May 29, 1991 to Rosa Latasha McCall and David Sykes who survives. Rakima attended Pitt County Schools and Beaufort County Schools. She was devoted to the church and had many talents. Rakima loved fashions. She dressed up her cousins, did their hair, and sang in the choir. She loved to dance and write poems. She was on the dance team at DH Conley High School, the praise team at New Hope Pentecostal Church in Terra Ceia and active in the youth choir.
Krystal McCall is who Rakima looked up to and called “sister.” Her favorite aunts were Tina Carter, Sandra McCall and Zandra Slade. Her nickname “Ladybug” came from “Pop Pop”, her mother and “Dino”.
Rakima leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Rosa Latasha McCall, Chocowinity, NC, her dad, David Sykes, Plymouth NC; and father in kind Corey Gooden, Brooklyn, NY, three brothers; Brian Ward, Jr., and DeJontaye McCall of Chocowinity, NC and Corey Jr., of Brooklyn, NY; and one sister, Sharmane McCall, of Chocowinity, NC, maternal grandparents, Roosevelt McCall (Mary), Chocowinity, NC, parental grandparents Cynthia Gooden, Brooklyn, NY and Mr. &Mrs. Charles Sykes, Belhaven, NC, six devoted aunts, LaTonia McCall, Tammy McCall, Zandra Slade (James) of Chocowinity, Tina Carter (Walter), Terra Ceia, NC, Sandra McCall, Chicod, NC and Krystal McCall, Greenville, NC; two uncles, Roosevelt McCall (Allison) and Christopher McCall of Greenville, NC. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Azariya Monay McCall. Rakima had many other great aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
She also leaves to cherish her memory her devoted friend Jimmy Stokes, Daniel “Twilight” Avery, Shanice Ambrose, and Samaj Daniels. Rakima’s Monopoly Queens, Monay Spencer, Shamane McCall, Ashley Carter, Shakeya Reddick, Shameka Carter, Makeya McCall
Arrangements are by Randolph Funeral Home, 219 North Bonner Street, Washington, NC.
The family will receive friends at the home, 610 Price Road, Chocowinity, NC.
