Bessie Satterfield Phillips, 89, formerly of Washington, and currently of 2680 S. Mebane St., Burlington, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012.

Born in Caswell County, Mrs. Phillips was the daughter of the late Eldridge and Ella Barts Satterfield and wife of the late Roger L. Phillips. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Howard, Herman, Raymond, Warren, Amos and Curtis Satterfield and her sister, Clara Rudd.

Mrs. Phillips was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

She was also a former volunteer with the American Red Cross.

A private service will be held at the Coastal Carolina Veteran Cemetery in Jacksonville.

Mrs. Phillips is survived by a host of nieces and nephews and her special friends in Washington.
