Elizabeth Hammond Moore, daughter of the late Mr. &Mrs. Henry Hammond of Elberton, GA, died February 2, 2010. Mrs. Moore was the widow of William G. Moore of Mars Bluff, South Carolina.
A Memorial Service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, February 6, 2010 at First Presbyterian Church of Washington, NC officiated by Rev. Lee Kinney, Rev. Sam Stevens and Rev. Darryl Evans. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
Mrs. Moore, a retired teacher and antique dealer, received a BA degree from Agnes Scott College and a Master’s degree from Francis Marion University. She did further graduate study at the University of Georgia, the Citadel, and the University of South Carolina.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Washington, NC. Before moving to Washington in 2006, she was a member of the John Calvin Presbyterian Church in Florence, SC for 33 years, where she received an Honorary Life Membership in Presbyterian Women. Mrs. Moore was an Elder in the Presbyterian Church U.S.A.
Survivors include three sons and seven grandchildren. They are: Daniel and Tamara Stevens and their children, Hannah, Beckett, and Claire Scott, of Washington, NC; Rev. Samuel Stevens and Michelle Stevens and their daughters Samantha and Sarah Elizabeth of Bishopville, SC; and Rev. Aaron and Edit Stevens and their sons Abel and Daniel of Budapest, Hungary. Mrs. Moore is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law; Andrew Hammond and Liz Coker of Bastrop, Texas and Major US Army Retired Henry and Janice Hammond of Bowman, GA. Mrs. Moore is also survived by two nephews and five nieces and five great nephews and seven great nieces. (Robert L. Stevens, her first husband and father of her children, also survives.)
