GREENVILLE Lance Lewis, a wide receiver who prepped at Concord High School and recently closed out a two-year stay at East Mississippi Community College, has signed a national letter-of-intent to attend and play football at East Carolina University according to an announcement from head coach Ruffin McNeill Wednesday.
The addition of Lewis increases the number of ECU newcomers to 19 during the traditional February signing period after 18 prospects inked with the Pirate program Feb. 3.
Lewis is expected to enroll at East Carolina this summer. (ECU)
Washington Jr. Babe Ruth League
The Washington Jr. Babe Ruth League will be holding open registration for the 2010 baseball season at the Bobby Andrews Center on 7th street. This league is for players age 13-15.
Registration will be held Saturday, Feb. 20, from 1 to 3 p.m.; Tuesday, Feb. 23 from 5 to 7 p.m. and Thursday, Feb. 25 from 5 to 7 p.m.

Chocowinity baseball/softball
The Chocowinity recreation Dept. is holding registration for its upcoming baseball and softball season. Early registration is now through Feb. 14 and the cost is $30.
The cost or registering Feb. 15-19 is $40.
Tee-ball is for girls and boys age 5-6 on July 31, 2010.
Boys age 7-15 by May 1 are eligible to play in one of the four different age divisions. Girls age 7-16 as of Dec. 31, 2009 are eligible to play in one of the four different age divisions. Registration will be taken at Chocowinity Town Hall during regular business hours.

Washington Fastpitch registration
The Washington Girls Fastpitch Softball organization will be holding registration this month.
The registration will be held in the meeting room at the indoor pool at the Susiegray McConnell Sports Complex.
Registration will be held Feb. 18 from 5:30 to 8 p.m., Feb. 19 from 5:30 to 8 p.m., Feb. 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Feb. 25 from 5:30 to 8 p.m., Feb. 26 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. and Feb. 27 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (WDN)
Cal Ripken Baseball registration
Washington Cal Ripken Baseball League announces the registration dates for the 2010 Season. Again this year the league is offering a 4-year-old instructional, 5-6 year-old t-ball, 7-8 year-old rookie, 9-10 year-old minor and 11-12 year-old major divisions. Any child who is 4 years old and no older than 12 years old by April 30 is eligible to play.
All new participants must provide a copy of a birth certificate.
The registration period will end on Feb. 20. The registration fee will be $55 per player with checks made payable to Washington Cal Ripken.
Walk-in registrations will be held at the 3rd Street baseball fields on Thursday, Feb. 11 from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 12 from 5 to 7 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 13 from 9 a.m. to noon, Thursday, Feb. 18 from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 19 from 5 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 20 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Bath baseball/softball registration
The Bath Recreation Department will be holding t-ball, farm league, little league, Jr. Babe Ruth baseball and softball sign-ups until March 14.
Registration forms may be picked up at the Bath School office or from the Internet at www.gotricounty.com under Parks and Recreation. Completed forms may be dropped off at the Bath Elementary office or mailed to P.O. Box 61, Bath, NC 27808.
Also, registrations will be held at the Bath School Gym on Feb. 20 and 27 from 10 a.m. to noon. There will be no extensions for sign ups past March 14th. (WDN)
Belhaven Rec baseball/softball
Belhaven Recreation Department baseball and softball registration will be held from now through March 20.
You may sign up at the Municipal Building at 315 E. Main Street from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., or at the Charlie Smith Center (Beach) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. You may also sign up at the Town of Belhaven web site at www.belhavennc.us (recreation) and mail the form with check as instructed.
The fees including insurance are $30 for T-Ball (ages 4-6), $40 for in-town residents and $45 for out of town residents for Farm League (ages 6-8), $40 for in-town residents and $45 for out of town residents for Little League (ages 9-12), $40 for in-town residents and $45 for out of town residents for Girls Softball (ages 9-10, 11-12 and 13-15) and $40 for in-town residents and $45 for out of town residents for Boys Pony League (ages 13-15 as of May 1, 2010).
Insurance is mandatory for all participants. Opening day is set for Saturday, April 24.

Belhaven Basketball League
The Belhaven Recreation Department is sponsoring a Womens Basketball Program.
Minimum age for participation is 20 and older. The participation fee is $40 per person. Sign Ups will be held March 5 through March 12.
The league will begin March 22 with game times on Monday and Wednesday nights. (WDN)

The Belhaven Recreation Department is sponsoring Womens Volleyball.
