Thomas Carlyle Jones, 69, passed away into the presence of his Lord and Savior, March 3, 2010, at Raleigh Rehabilitation and Healthcare. He was born August 24, 1940 in Columbia, NC, parents Elizabeth Fisher Jones and the late Henry Carlyle Jones.
Raised in Fairfield, in Hyde Co., NC, Thomas graduated from Duke University in 1962, with a degree in Political Science. He served 7 years in the NC National Guard. He retired from Overnite Transportation Company, where he worked for over 32 years. Above all he loved his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by Mary Lee Deans Jones, his loving wife of 42 years; dear children: son Thomas Jones Jr. and his wife Stephanie, daughters Anna Zoller and her husband Spencer, Beth Christensen and her husband Barry, and Laura Munn and her husband Keith; grandchildren: Dorothy and Luke Jones, Abby and Grace Zoller, Ariel, Jake, and Barry Christensen, and Megan and Rhett Munn. In addition to his mother, he will also be missed by his brother Michael Fisher Jones of Richmond, VA and his loving aunt Dorothy Dudley of Fairfield, NC.
The family received friends from 3-3:45 p.m. on Sunday March 7, at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh. A graveside service followed at 4 p.m., at Raleigh Memorial Park. Pastor Richard Wynne officiated.
