Mr. Alfred Kenneth Haylett, Sr., age 69, a resident of 311 Oak Drive, Blounts Creek, NC died Sunday March 14, 2010 at his home.
A graveside funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday March 17, 2010 at Warren Memorial Cemetery of Blounts Creek officiated by Mike Chandler and Rev. Vernon Morris. Pallbearers will be Jesse Andrews, Michael Latchaw, Clarence Fisher, Kenneth Miller, Dalton Whitehurst and Taylor Ball.
Mr. Haylett was born in Franklin, PA on April 2, 1940 son of the late Benjamin and Irene Baker Haylett. He served his country in the U.S. Army and the National Guard. Mr. Haylett married the former Florence Marie Cottrell on June 24, 1983 who survives. Before his retirement he worked as a logger, as a craftsman at the former Singer Furniture in Chocowinity, as a newspaper delivery person with the Washington Daily News and his own lawn care business.
Surviving along with his wife Florence of the home are four daughters: Darlene McMillan, Donna Haylett and Lucy Rhodes all of Franklin, PA and Tammy Miller of Blounts Creek, NC; four sons: Alfred K. Haylett, Jr. and Paul Haylett both of Franklin, PA and Kenneth Miller and Donald Miller both of Chocowinity, NC; three step-daughters: Joann Hayes of Franklin, PA, Bonnie Miller of Meadville, PA and Patty Latchaw of Chocowinity, NC; two step-sons: Douglas Miller of Elizabeth City and Robert Peterson of Franklin, PA; three brothers: Jack Haylett of Sharpsville, PA, Jim Haylett of Oklahoma City, OK and Bob Haylett of Franklin, PA; five sisters: Virginia Hanna, Dorothy Jewell and Betty Uber, all of Poke, PA, Karen Gass of Erie, PA, and Sandy Hovis of Edward, NC; thirty one grandchildren and a large number of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday March 16, 2010 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and at other times at the home.
