Mrs. Alice Woolard Suggs, age 90, a resident of Washington, died Saturday, March 20, 2010. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Monday, March 22, 2010 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and will be conducted by Tony Krantz. Burial will follow in the Woolard Family Cemetery. Kermit Alligood, John Alligood, Eddie Clark, Darrell Woolard, Jr., Bobby Haddock and Rudy Toler will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Suggs was born in Beaufort County on October 10, 1919 to the late Fernando and Polly Ann Woolard. On August 8, 1946 she married Hubert Earl Suggs who preceded her in death on August 11, 1984. Mrs. Suggs was a member of Beaver Dam Church of Christ.
Survivors include one daughter, Gail Toler and husband Danny of Washington; one son, Ronnie Suggs and wife Rhonda of Bath; five grandchildren, Chris Taylor, Courtney Leigh Blount, Layla Dale Suggs, Alex O’Neal, Marta O’Neal and Michael Dan Toler and two great-grandchildren, McKenna Leigh Taylor and Brayden Keith Taylor. In addition to her parents and husband Mrs. Suggs was preceded in death by one son, James Earl Suggs; one brother, James Filbert Woolard and one sister, Millie Gray Woolard.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Sunday, March 21, 2010 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and other times at the home of Gail and Danny Toler, 410 Lodge Rd., Washington, NC.
