Mr. Ashley Lynn Stephenson, age 46, a resident of 215 Magnolia Drive, Pamlico Village, Washington, died Monday, March 22, 2010 at Beaufort County Medical Center in Washington.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Washington conducted by Dr. James Moore.
Mr. Stephenson was born in Erwin, N.C. on September 3, 1963. He was the son of Glendel Stephenson and the late Julie Beard Stephenson. Mr. Stephenson graduated from Eastern Alamance High School in Mebane, N.C. and Durham Technical College. He was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Order of the Arrow. Mr. Stephenson was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Committee of 100 and board member of the Purpose of God. He was a past member of the Washington Community Theatre Association and the Beaufort County Republican Party.
On April 24, 1999, Mr. Stephenson married the former Paula Renee Carawan, who survives.
Surviving with his wife are his son, Rocky Stephenson of the home; his father and step mother, Mayor Glendel and Pat Stephenson of Mebane; two brothers, Marshall Stephenson and wife, Lisie of Wilmington, Alan Stephenson and wife, Cathy of Mebane; mother in law and father in law, Mary and Billy Hopkins of Williamston; brother in law, Art Carawan and wife, Jeanette and their son, Michael all of Kinston; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Stephenson was preceded in death by a brother, Reid Stephenson and his father-in-law, Charlie Carawan.
The family will receive friends after the service at the First Baptist Church.
