Mrs. Pearl Hudnell Hawkins Monteith, age 83, a resident of 630 Hubs Rec. Road, Belhaven, died Monday, March 29, 2010 at Beaufort County Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 2, 2010 at Belhaven First Assembly of God and will be conducted by Pastor Allen Harmon. Burial will follow in Belhaven Community Cemetery. Dax Hawkins, Stacey Bowen, Anthony Hudnell, Ian Hawkins, Kiley Hawkins and Corey Hawkins will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Monteith was born in Beaufort County on April 5, 1926 to the late Lyman and Ruth Kenion Hudnell. She married Roy Monteith who preceded her in death. She was a 1944 graduate of Belhaven High School and worked as a seamstress for many years with several companies. Mrs. Monteith was a member of Belhaven First Assembly of God where she was very active and taught Sunday School for many years.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Hawkins and wife Susan of Belhaven, Wayne Hawkins and wife Mary of Grimesland; five grandchildren, Kris Bowen, Dax Hawkins, Ian Hawkins, Kiley Hawkins, and Corey Hawkins; seven great grandchildren, Eliza Bowen, Nathaniel Bowen, Abigale Hawkins, Lily Hawkins, Abby Hawkins, Mayer Hawkins and Evan Hawkins and one step son, Mike Monteith. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Walton Hudnell, Lloyd Hudnell and Milburn Hudnell; two sisters, Mildred Harris and Leone Daw; and one step son, Randy Monteith.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Belhaven First Assembly of God and other times at the home of Stacey and Kris Bowen, 21 Pungo Trail, Belhaven.
