Mr. Durwood Lincoln Moore, age 82, a resident of 3008 John Small Ave. Washington, NC died Friday April 9, 2010 at his home.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday April 11, 2010 at First Free Will Baptist Church of Washington officiated by Pastor Kevin Woolard. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Gene Paul Edwards, Randy Varni, Travis Sadler, Benji Tripp, Eddie Congleton and Gerald Cameron will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Moore was born in Edgecombe County on January 29, 1928 son of the late Lonnie Augustus Moore and the late Mary Louise Hodges Moore. He was a 1949 graduate of Chocowinity High School. Mr. Moore served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He married the former Edna Earle Ball on December 20, 1951 who survives. Mr. Moore was a retired Supervisor in Quality Control with National Spinning Company of Washington. Mr. Moore was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church of Washington and VFW Washington Memorial Post 6088. He was a former member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1800 and American Legion Beaufort County Post 15. Surviving along with Mr. Moores wife Edna of the home is a son: Durwood Wayne Moore and his wife Sara of Aurora; a daughter: Leanne Moore Fulcher and her husband Charles of Washington; four grandchildren: Joshua Charles Fulcher, Graham Tyler Fulcher and Durwood Daniel Moore all of Greenville, and Eryn Leanne Burke and her husband Marc of Raleigh; a great grandchild Emory J. Burke; two sisters: Mary Lou Perry and Peggy Moore Baugher both of Washington and his nieces and nephews. Mr. Moore was preceded in death by a brother: Lonnie Earl Moore.
The family will receive friends at the home.
