Mrs. Lois Ann Diefendorf, age 77, a resident of 709 West Main St., Washington, died Thursday April 22, 2010.
Mrs. Diefendorf was born and raised in the Boston, Massachusetts area and graduated from the University of Miami. She was a teacher, writer, a devoted wife of fifty-two years, the center and rock of her family. She loved the South, this town, the special people here. She gave a sparkle to the ordinary day, a feeling that life was interesting, fun, often exciting. She was a marvelous listener, friends and strangers would find from her comforting and encouraging words. She was a good person.
She is survived by her husband, Robert J. Diefendorf of Washington, her daughter, Rachel Conn of Chattanooga, Tennessee and her son, Robert M. Diefendorf and his wife Penni of Hong Kong, China.
At her request, funeral services will be private. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and other times at the home.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 101 North Bonner St., Washington, NC 27889.
