Mr. Gerald Winston Furbee, age 83, a resident of 1104 Lake Road, the Wenona Community of Pantego, NC died Sunday April 25, 2010 at the Washington County Hospital in Plymouth.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday April 28, 2010 at Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven officiated by Pastor Lee Price. Burial will follow in Windley Cemetery in Plymouth.
Mr. Furbee was born in the Wenona Community of Pantego on February 26, 1927 son of the late Glenn Braden Furbee and the late Iva Beulah Allen Furbee. He graduated from Plymouth High School and served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Furbee earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture Engineering from N.C. State University. He was able to put his engineering degree to good use with the John Deere Company in Atlanta, GA and Moline IL. Mr. Furbee was also a retired farmer.
Survivors include two brothers: Harley Furbee and his wife Diane of Wenona and Myron E. Furbee and his wife Ruth of Dumfries, VA; two nephews and two nieces.
The family will receive friends Wednesday April 28, 2010 from 1 p.m. to the funeral hour at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Harley and Diane Furbee located at 1104 Lake Road, Pantego, NC.
