Mrs. Lillian Simmons Davis, age 78, a resident of 339 East 11th St., Washington, NC, went home to be with her heavenly father on Monday, May 10, 2010, at Beaufort County Hospital. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 2010, at Hillside Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. The Reverend Charles B. Latham, Jr. will be presiding. Pallbearers will be Charles Latham, Paul Cosentino, George Cosentino, Stuart O’Neal, John Edwards, and Robbie Crisp.
Lillian was born in Pitt County to the late Marcellous Washington Simmons and Myrtie Evans Simmons on January 2, 1932. On December 24, 1946, Lillian married Lloyd George Davis who preceded her in death on August 14, 1989. She was also preceded in death by a son, Robert “Bobby” Davis, a great-grandson, Cayton Latham, and eight siblings.
Lillian was a selfless ray of light who touched the lives of all who knew her. She enjoyed a 28 year career at Tayloe Drug Co., Washington.
Lillian is survived by children Carolyn Davis Cosentino, Lloyd George Davis, Jr., and wife Debbie, James Allen “Jimmy” Davis and wife Dawn, all of Washington; Yvonne Davis Modlin and husband Ed of Jamesville, and Brenda Davis Edwards and husband Barry of Rocky Mount. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Paul and George Cosentino, Kelly O’Neal Crisp and Stuart O’Neal, John and Jenny Edwards, Shenna Davis Latham and Miranda Davis. Great-grandchildren are Logan and Grant Crisp; Zachary and Ethan Cosentino; Kaitlyn, Lauren and Noah Cosentino; Genesis and Calista Latham; Seth Radosevich and Riley O’Neal.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 12, 2010, from 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m. at Hillside Funeral Home of Washington. At other times, the family will be at the home of Lloyd and Debbie Davis, 322 Summer Haven Road, Washington, NC.
