Thomas J. Borrelli, called the “Miracle Man” by his doctors, lost his valiant battle against heart disease on June 16, 2010.
A funeral mass will be held 9:45 AM Tuesday June 22, 2010 at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Syosset, NY. Burial will be in Pinelawn Memorial Park in Farmingdale, NY.
Mr. Borrelli was born in Brooklyn, NY on December 28, 1933, where he lived until 1960, when he and his family moved to the Syosset area of Long Island. He would later relocate to Dorset, VT and finally to Cypress Landing, NC.
Tom served in the Navy from 1952 to 1954. After discharge, he would go on to be senior partner in several contracting companies. Tom was a lover of animals, especially his family dogs and horses. He was especially fond of pigeons and raised many fancy varieties. He enjoyed travel and had visited many U.S. and foreign destinations. In later years, he became a fan of thoroughbred racing at Saratoga Race Course, NY.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Jacqueline, his son Timothy and his wife, Dolores of Washington, NC; his daughter, Diane Every and her husband, Ray of High Point, NC and his son, Douglas and his wife, Debbie of West Babylon, NY.; six grandchildren, Grace Borrelli, Vaughn Borrelli, Ray, Danielle and Robert Every and Merette Sullivan; one great grandson, Oliver Sullivan and three sisters, Helen Buscemi, Mary Bostrom and Frances Dolan. His devoted companion dog, Roxie, will miss him greatly. Mr. Borrelli was preceded in death by two sisters, Catherine Nullmeyer and Elizabeth Gilbert.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM Monday June 21, 2010 at Beney Funeral Home in Syosset, NY.
