Mrs. Ellen Modlin Hardison, age 78, a resident of 319 Hudnell St., Washington, died Wednesday afternoon February 29, 2012, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, March 4, 2012, at the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home in Washington officiated by the Rev. Doug Batchelor. Burial will follow in Tice Cemetery. Billy Johnson, Brandon Hardison, Gary Thompson, John Modlin, Dennis Modlin, Andy Everett and Anthony Everett will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Hardison was born in Beaufort County on May 29, 1933, daughter of the late Hilton and Lillian Modlin. On August 19, 1958, she married James Robert Hardison who survives. Mrs. Hardison was a homemaker. She enjoyed working in her yard and walking her dog, Skyler.
Mrs. Hardison is survived by her husband, James Hardison of the home; her daughter: Wendy Sue Clark; her son-in-law: Rick W. Clark; her grandson: Brandon Brooks Hardison, all of Washington and his fiancée: Christina Cox of Chocowinity; her brothers: Hilton Ray Modlin of Shady Banks, Washington, and Bobby Earl Modlin of Blount’s Creek.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son: Jimmy Steve Hardison and her two sisters: Katie M. Johnson and Hilda Balance.
The family will receive friends 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Paul Funeral Home in Washington.
