Mr. Andrew Jackson Walden, age 71, a resident of 1306 North Respess Street, Washington, NC died Monday June 28, 2010 at the Beaufort County Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday June 30, 2010 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Chocowinity officiated by The Reverend Krista Fregoso. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery of Washington with full military honors. Andrew Taylor, Danny Whitfield, David Jaggers, Ernest Harding Cutler, Justin Kelley, R.J. Martin, Ted Schroeder and Drew Taylor will serve as pallbearers at the church.
Mr. Walden was born in La Follette, TN on October 23, 1938 son of the late Early and Mary Beurd Walden. He was a graduate of Campbell County Schools in La Follette, TN. Mr. Walden served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War for a total of twenty one years of service. He married the former Jane Lee Page on June 8, 1973 who survives.
Surviving along with Mr. Walden's wife Jane of the home are two daughters: Diana Lee Weaver of Augusta, GA and Andrea Christoffel of Germany; a son: David Andrew Walden of Augusta, GA; a mother-in-law: Lena H. Page of Washington; three step daughters: Katherine Lee Taylor of Cary, Sherry Lynne Whitfield of Williamston and Roberta Page Jaggers of Washington; five sisters: Alieen Pyles, Marie Smith, Rosaliu Smiddy, Judith Walden and Sue Branam; a brother: Dennis Walden; ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Walden was preceded in death by a daughter: Sharon C. Walden and three sisters: Alberta Byrge, Evelyn Halcomb and Laureen Roberts.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour Wednesday June 30, 2010 at Trinity Episcopal Church Parrish Hall and at other times at the home.
