Mr. William “Willie” Edward Bell Jr., age 46, a resident of 404 E. 11th St., Washington, NC died on Friday, July 2, 2010 at Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern. A memorial service will be held at Hillside Funeral Service on Monday, July 5, 2010 at 7:00 P.M., officiated by Pastor Danny Barrow. The family will receive friends at Hillside Funeral Service from 5:00 P.M. until service hour.
Willie was born on October 6, 1963 in Newport News, VA. He was the son of the late William Edward Bell Sr. and Janice Fox Bell, who survives. He graduated from Washington High School. He was an automotive machinist and had worked with Piston Ring and Machine Company, A&B Mechanical Service, Ray’s Cylinder Heads and Quality Tire. Drag racing and building engines was his greatest love. Willie was well known at East Carolina Motor Speedway where he was named Engine Builder of the year.
Along with his mother, Janice, he is survived by one daughter, Brittany Hope Bell of Washington; two sisters, Crystal Bell Boyd and husband Kevin of Pinetown and Cynthia Lynn Bell of New Bern; two nieces, Ashley Gray and Allison Wainwright; and one nephew, L.P. Gray.
