Mrs. Loray Lawrence Kornegay, 68, a resident of Ridgewood Manor Nursing Home, Washington, and formerly of 300 Minuteman Lane, Washington, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007, at Ridgewood Manor Nursing Home.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Randolph Funeral Home, 219 N. Bonner St., Washington, with Elder Donald Peartree officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Washington.
Mrs. Kornegay was born in Beaufort County on May 16, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Dolia Credle Lawrence and Johnnie Frank Lawrence. She attended the Beaufort County Schools. She was married to Matthew Kornegay, who preceded her in death. She was employed as a domestic technician at a recreational center for senior citizens in New York. She was a member of Christian Chapel Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ), Bath.
Survivors include one daughter, Doris Faye Dickinson of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one son, Charles Edward Kornegay of Bridgeport, Conn.; five sisters, Elsie Hodges and Virginia Brown, both of Bath, Willie Mae Becton of Washington, Classie Mae Spencer of Bridgeport, Conn., and Cynthia Rentz of Knightdale; one brother, John Lawrence of Greensboro; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Moore and Edna Jones and two brothers, Wade Lawrence and Leroy Lawrence.
The family will receive friends at the home of her niece, Demetrice Brown-Clark, 600 Cedar Drive, Chocowinity.
