Brenda Barber Hilton

Ms. Brenda Barber Hilton, age 63, a resident of Chocowinity, died Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.
A celebration of her life will be held at 3 p.m. today in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service with Ben Bunch officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Bea Barber, David Barber, Mark Barber, Rex Barber, Thurman Jackson and Matthew Styons will serve as pallbearers.
Ms. Hilton was born on Feb. 5, 1949, in Martin County, daughter of the late Elbert and Idell Barber. After graduation from high school, she attended Beaufort County Community College and earned her degree as an LPN. Brenda was a dedicated nurse for 44 years. Her everlasting kindness and commitment to her patients spanned across Washington, Beaufort and Martin counties. Her last 25 years of service were at Ridgewood Manor Nursing Home. She was married to Avery Von Hilton Jr., who preceded her in death in 2007. She attended Lighthouse Assembly of God and was a member of the National Board of Nursing.
Brenda is survived by her daughter, Melissa Hilton Adams and husband Timothy Adams of Chocowinity; her brother, Earl Barber and wife Sybil of Washington; her sister, Lela Styons of Jamesville; her grandchildren, Courtney Hodges of Washington and Bailey Adams of Chocowinity, and her fiancé, Donnie H. Bell Jr. of Chocowinity.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Colon and Joe Barber.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Brenda’s honor to Lighthouse Assembly of God, 1430 Barber Road, Jamesville, NC 27846.
Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations, 4500 U.S. Highway 264 East, Washington, has been given the honor of being entrusted with serving the Hilton family.
