Rachel Allcox Bright died quietly at her home in Vanceboro at the age of 81 on Saturday, August 14. Her final days were spent surrounded by family, friends and beloved pets.
Rachel was born on March 10, 1929 to Vera and Alton Allcox. She was raised on a farm as the beloved baby of twelve children: Bruce, Elmo, Sherwood, Earl, Herman, Jim, Maxton, Claudia, and her beloved Edna.
She is survived by two children, Barbara and Clif, both of Vanceboro. She was preceded in death by her son, Little Joe, her husband, Joe Bright, a former member of the NC House of Representatives, and her eleven brothers and sisters.
Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation at 6 p.m. and memorial service at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Bright Home, 7274 Highway 17 North, Vanceboro.
