Hazel Sadler Worthman

Mrs. Hazel Sadler Worthman, 96, a resident of 120 Farm Lane, Washington, died Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at her home.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Soule Cemetery in Swan Quarter, officiated by the Rev. Charlie Greene. Travis Sadler, Bobby Harper, Charlie Jones, Adam Jones, Robbie Jay Ireland and Timothy Waters will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Worthman was born in Hyde County on April 26, 1915, to the late Charlie Robert Sadler and Sudie Pearl Harris. She was a 1931 graduate of Swan Quarter High School. On Oct. 8, 1959, she married Richard Worthman, who preceded her in death on March 6, 1996. Mrs. Worthman worked as a private housekeeper for the Pritzker family of Osprey, Fla. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Osprey, Fla., and Chapter 3 of the D.A.V. Auxiliary of Sarasota, Fla., and had attended Wilkinson Church of Christ in Pantego.
Mrs. Worthman is survived by a daughter: Betty Arnold and husband Charles of Washington; a stepdaughter, Karen Brewer of High Point; two stepsons, Edward Holland and Lamar Holland, both of Florida; a brother, Travis Sadler of Washington; a sister, Lucille Jones of Engelhard; two grandchildren, Charles G. Arnold and wife Dawn of Plymouth, and Jennifer Waters and husband Timothy of Washington; four great-grandchildren, Haylee Simpkins, David Simpkins, Scout Arnold and Kaiah Smith; and other extended family in Cicero and Arcadia, Ind.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Worthman is preceded in death by three brothers: Gaston B. Sadler, Robert Lee Sadler and Lindsey Sadler; and a sister, Kathleen McKinney.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home, 120 Farm Lane, Washington.
