Northside Air Force JROTC cadets recently had the opportunity to hear from two NHS graduates and one Naval Academy graduate.
Cadet Grant Fath, a junior at the United States Military Academy in West Point, N.Y., and Air Force ROTC Cadet Brooke Leigh, a senior at East Carolina University, visited the Northside JROTC cadets to speak on the life of a college student/cadet.
Leigh was active in the JROTC program and served as the NC-948 squadron commander. Leigh held the position of East Carolina Wing commander last year. She received a full scholarship to ECU.
David Remick (son of Col. Mark A. Remick, Northside’s senior aerospace science instructor) graduated from the Naval Academy at Annapolis, Md., and was given a commission as a second lieutenant in the Marine Corps. He is currently assigned at Fort Belvoir, Va., and upon completion of his field training he hopes to be stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point or Camp Lejeune near Jacksonville.
Northside JROTC cadets learned about scholarships opportunities, military training, commissioning programs, field training, summer leadership schools and military careers within the Army, Marines and Air Force.
They were told the importance of taking advantage of leadership roles while in high school.
