There’s going to be a TrainWreck in downtown Washington on Friday.
TrainWreck, a Greenville-based band established in 2004, takes to the main stage, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the September installment of Music in the Streets. Later Friday, the band plays at Notes Cafe in downtown Washington, beginning at 10 p.m.
“I want the last two events of the season to be remembered by folks so they will come back next year,” said LaVon Drake, one of the Music in the Streets organizers, on Wednesday.
Drake said she’s been pleased with the performers, who do not get paid, at Music in the Streets this season.
“In general, the musicians have been really good,” she said.
At 7:30 p.m., the latest segment of Beaufort County Idol takes over the main stage, located at the intersection of Main and Market streets.
To date, this year’s Beaufort County semi-finalists are Molly Hardison, Penny Wilson, Sherman Hoggard, Jonah Taylor, Elizabeth Williams, Hayley Foy, Sarah Hardison, Destiny Tyson, William Conner, Kasey Tooley, John Furlough, April Spear, Zack Kunclrs, Joseph Conner and Kathryn Sugg.
Sometime in October, the semi-finalists will compete in the vocal competition’s grand finale at the historic Turnage Theater.
Scheduled to perform during Music in the Streets, which runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, are Telluliah Dance, Kara Karlson, Cat’s Pajammers, Men of Faith, J.B. Mayes, Bob Daw, Redeemed, Ryan Schmitt and Ronnie Bryson, Donald Underwood Thompson and the Deplorable Folly Players.
Robin Potts, who is an accordion player, and a juggler will serve as roaming entertainers.
Sylvan Learning Center will be set up at the Music in the Streets Child’s Corner.
The N.C. Army National Guard’s rock-climbing wall will be part of Friday’s lineup. The wall is slated to be set up at the intersection of Main and Respess streets, according to an e-mail from the Washington Harbor District Alliance, organizers of Music in the Streets.
The Music in the Streets Shaggers are scheduled to return Friday. Down East Rods &Classics members (and sometimes their guests) are scheduled to display their vehicles during the street festival.
Several food and beverage vendors will be located throughout the Music in the Streets area.
