Mr. Tom Washington Skinner, 89, of 319 Church St., Williamston, N.C., died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010, at Martin General Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010, at Church of the Advent with the Rev. Jim Horton officiating.
Mr. Skinner was born in Pitt County on October 16, 1920. He was the son of the late William Iverson Skinner and Laurine Davis Skinner. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Marines. On Nov. 30, 1948, he married Katherine Manning Skinner, who survives. He was the retired president of W.I. Skinner &Company. He was a member of Church of the Advent.
Survivors include wife, Katherine Manning Skinner; son, John M. Skinner of Merry Hill; daughters, Margaret S. Covington of Halifax, Va., and Katherine Davis Skinner of Durham; grandchildren, Ned Covington, Katherine Covington, Thomas Savage Skinner and Courtney Parker.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
