WASHINGTON Recently, Habitat for Humanity completed their latest endeavor by building a house for and dedicating it to a Washington resident.
Frank Belote, with Habitat for Humanity, said the house dedication for Angelina Valenzuela and her son, Oscar, went off good.
The dedication was well attended by friends, volunteers and board members. And after the ceremony, most guests and attendees went to the church where a luncheon was held where there were fantastic desserts, Belote said. Especially a large double-chocolate cake.
The house received all the compliments it deserved and everyone recognized the efforts of the volunteers.
Although the final inspection was last week, John Reiner, a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, said he was pleased to announce that the house passed its final inspection.
I have the Certificate of Occupancy in my possession, he said. On behalf of the Habitat Board of Directors and Angelina Valenzuela … we will now move forward with the house closing and hopefully, the family will be able to move into their new home in a very short while.
He thanked everyone volunteers and all for contributing their time and effort to the construction of the house.
Reiner added that some of the last minute tasks that needed to be completed were placing vinyl sheeting under the house, storing the extra vinyl siding and shingles on a plank under the house in case they are needed again, nailing and caulking the shelves over the dryer and installing knobs and handles on the kitchen and bathroom cabinets.
Reiner said several hundred working hours went into the building of the home, which was all completed by volunteers, as well as by Angelina and her son, Oscar.
