Mid-East Commission sets annual meeting

The Mid-East Commission will hold its 45th-annual meeting at the Rock Spring Center in Pitt County at 6:30 p.m. April 19.
Joe Jernigan Sr., Mid-East Commission chairman, will preside over the meeting. The guest speaker will be Ted Morris with East Carolina University’s Office of Engagement, Innovation and Economic Development.
The Mid-East Commission serves the counties of Beaufort, Bertie, Hertford, Martin and Pitt, collectively known as Region Q.
The following slate of officers will be installed by Greenville Mayor Allen M. Thomas: Merrill Flood, director of the Office of Community Development with the City of Greenville as chairman; Doug Mercer, Washington Councilman, as first vice chairman; McCoy Pierce, Winton Councilman as second vice chairman; Walter Willet, Parmele Councilman as secretary; and Dayle Vaughan, Lewiston-Woodville Councilwoman, as treasurer.
The public is invited to attend, but advance registration is requested and may be made by calling 252-974-1826. The cost is $25 a person.
