Warren Hardy Simpson, age 83, a resident of 419 Respess Street, Washington, died Sunday, October 31, 2010 at his home. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Beebe Memorial CME Church officiated by Rev. Edward Moultrie. The family will receive friends at Hillside Funeral Service from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, November 5, 2010 and at other times at the home.
Mr. Simpson was born on September 9, 1927 in Beaufort County, NC, son of the late Isaac Simpson and Neder Canady Simpson. He was married to Eddie Moore on April 27, 1943. He was a P.S. Jones High School graduate and worked at Washington High School for more than 20 years. Mr. Warren Simpson served in the United States Army for two years and received an honorable discharge after being injured in the Korean War. He was a past member of the Washington Historic Committee and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Mr. Simpson is survived by his wife, Eddie Moore Simpson of Washington; one daughter, Wanza Renee Simpson of Washington; four grandchildren, Sharde` Renee, Chante` Renee, Shania Renee and Sha`kira Sincere, all of Washington; and a devoted adopted son, Ronnie Lawrence of Pinetown. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Lee, Louie, Virginia and Sallie; and five brothers, Harry Sr., Roy Sr., David, Leeman and Ernest.
