A sight for sore eyes

The Washington Evening Lions Club recently sponsored vision screenings for 285 first-grade students at Eastern Elementary School. Forty-four children were referred for further evaluation due to their vision screening results. Optometrist Timothy Klugh and staff from the Eye Care Center in Washington volunteered their time to make these screenings possible. Lion President Tony Keech Jr. (right) and several club members kept the screening process running smoothly. The Washington Evening Lions Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second Monday of each month at the Blind Center, 221 N. Harvey St., Washington, and is currently accepting membership applications. If you are interested in joining the club or would like more information, contact Debra Waters, vice-president and membership chairperson, at 252-946-6208.
