Mr. James “Pete” Forrest Swain, Sr., age 65, a resident of 1204 W. 5th St., Washington, died Tuesday, November 17, 2010.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, November 19, 2010 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and will be conducted by Pastor Keith Hudson. Burial will follow in the Tetterton Family Cemetery. Terry Clark, Daniel Tyson, Leon Norman, John Martin Boyd, Robbie Swain and Kelly Rubado will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Swain was born in Beaufort County on July 26, 1945 to the late Walton “Fritz” Swain and Madge Bennett Swain. On July 20, 1960, he married Sally Belinda Smith who survives. He was employed as a carpenter for 10 years and in the paint and body shop business for 35 years.
Survivors include his wife, Sally Smith Swain of the home; one son, James F. Swain, Jr. and wife April of Washington; one grandson, J.D. Swain; one brother, Alfred “Tenny” Swain and wife Shirley of Louisville, TN; three sisters, Lamour Glen and husband William of Anaheim, CA, Barbara Clark and husband Osborne of Greenville and Kay Moore and husband Ronnie of Elm City. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Horace and Dave Swain and three sisters, Bonnie Burke, Laura Cayton and Kathleen Gray.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, November 18, 2010 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and other times at the home.
