Mrs. Sandra “Sandy” Saccio, 60, of 4373 Maules Point Road, Blounts Creek, passed on Nov. 25, 2010, at home. Sandy was born on June 26, 1950 in Brooklyn, NY, and grew up in Wantagh, Long Island. She was the daughter of Nat and Florence Maltz of Boynton Beach, Fla. She attended the General Douglas McArthur High School in Levittown, NY, graduating in 1968. She furthered her education at Boston University where she earned a degree in Special Education. After spending a number of years teaching, Sandy decided to make a career change and began a career in the film industry as a Production Coordinator, working in both New York and California.
Sandy was the driving force behind the very successful Wright Flight Program taught at John Small Elementary School in Washington. Sandy’s commitment and vision sustained this important an impactful program.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Thomas Saccio of the home; two step sons, Matthew and Michael Saccio, both of New York, NY; two sisters, Stephanie Levine of Boynton Beach, Fla.; and Barbara Carpenter of Farmingdale, NY; two nephews, Phillip Levine and Russell Carpenter, and a niece Emma Carpenter.
Sandy was very special in every way and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Dec. 5, 2010 at 7 p.m. at Congregation Bayt Shalom, 4352 10th Street, Greenville. Telephone number is 252-830-1138.
