Mrs. Ruth Barnes Smith, age 89, a resident of 153 Barnes Foster Loop Road, Belhaven, NC died Friday December 17, 2010 at the Beaufort County Medical Center of Washington.
A graveside funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Monday December 20, 2010 at Sidney Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery officiated by Pastor Dean Fulford, Jr. Pallbearers will be Allen Navarro, Dennis Pierce, Sr., Dennis Pierce, Jr., Leon Gray Pierce, John David Pierce, Robert Barnes and Ted Barnes.
Mrs. Ruth was born in Sampson County West Virginia on March 5, 1921. She married John W. Barnes who preceded her in death and she later married C.W. Smith who also preceded her in death. Mrs. Ruth has been a waitress at the former Hubs Rec Restaurant, worked at Blue Channel Crab Factory and was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons: John Wesley Barnes of Halifax County and Robert Lee Barnes and his partner Betty Urquhart both of Belhaven; a daughter: Grace Annette Pierce and her husband Dennis of Williamston; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home of Mrs. Smith’s son Robert located at 55 East Drive, Belhaven, NC.
